Performance and capabilities

All 2024 Terrain models share the same powertrain: a 1.5-liter turbo engine joined to a smooth nine-speed automatic transmission. You can expect 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque from this setup, along with up to 1,500 pounds of towing capacity. Independent front and rear suspension design enables more agile handling and helps you navigate bumps in the road with ease. To maximize the Terrain’s traction, AWD is available on SLE and SLT trims and standard on AT4 and Denali. If you’re feeling especially adventurous, AT4 also comes with an off-road driving mode and Hill Descent Control.

Exterior design

Each 2024 Terrain trim emphasizes premium exterior styling and functional features. Standard features on the entry-level SLE include LED headlamps and taillamps, C-shaped signature lighting, heated side mirrors, and 17-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels. SLT adds fog lamps, roof rails, 18-inch wheels, and a hands-free power programmable liftgate. Moving up to AT4, you’ll gain 17-inch gloss black wheels and a front steel skid plate. The high-end Denali trim gets the deluxe treatment with 19-inch bright machined wheels and a multidimensional chrome grille. Across the lineup, seven paint colors are available, including Volcanic Red Tintcoat, Deep Bronze Metallic, and new Downpour and Riptide Metallic.

Interior features and space

Inside the 2024 Terrain, you’ll find helpful amenities to go with plenty of flexible space for passengers and cargo. There’s room for up to five passengers, including close to 40 inches of legroom for second-row occupants. Lowering the split-folding rear seats gains you up to 63.3 cubic feet of cargo space, and you can also fold the front passenger seat flat to fit longer items. Features like Active Noise Cancellation, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and multiple USB charging ports come standard on each trim level. SLT adds premium upgrades like perforated leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, and a wrapped steering wheel. At the top of the lineup, Denali contributes ventilated front seats, burnished aluminum accents, and French-stitched upholstery.

Infotainment tech

The 2024 Terrain keeps you well-connected with an array of high-tech infotainment features. The standard setup includes a 7-inch touch display, wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® for your smartphone, SiriusXM® radio, and connective technologies like Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi hotspot capability. Higher trims provide a larger 8-inch center screen and a reconfigurable 8-inch driver information display. You can also opt for a seven-speaker Bose® premium sound system and a GMC Connected Navigation subscription.
